The Power Keys Of Super Achievers2Copyright © Opeolu Banwo
http://www.OmegaSuperProfits.comPOWER KEY #2: SET GOALS AND HAVE A PLAN TO ACHIEVE THOSE GOALS
A bad plan is always better than no plan at all. It is a fact of life that if you do not know where you are going, you will not get anywhere. Many get stuck at the bottom or middle of the pack because they never really sat down and decided what they really want out of life, career, marriage, church or environment. Most people have no long time or short term goals other than expecting to wake up in the morning and go to the same tedious or unfulfilling job. Too many losers leave their future to chance while champions have a very clear sense of direction and destiny. You do not become a champion by just praying to become one, and then having no set goals or plans on when, where and how you intend to become a champion. Champions do not arrive by accident. In Habbakuk 2:2, God advised” write down the vision and make it plain on tablets that he may run who reads it.”
All enduring champions without exception have identified what they really want and set goals and milestones to achieve them before they achieve it. Accidental champions are rare indeed. You must set your career, family, and personal goals today if you want to be a champion tomorrow.
I once read about a study carried out by a university which showed that only 3 out of 100 graduating students had written down a clear list of goals they want to achieve over the next 10 – 20 years. About 10 years later, the follow-up showed that the same 3% who had written down their goals were the champions at the top of the rest in achievement, position and finances. Those who did not set goals were now looking up to and serving those who had set goals.
The good news is that it is never too late to start setting goals or have a plan. Les Brown started his career as a public speaker and motivator at 43 years old, yet he is a champion today. He was at one point rated as one of the 5th best public speakers/motivators in the world. You can still be a champion regardless of how many years you have lost. Begin by setting goals for your life today. It is as simple as investing only ONE HOUR each day to think and WRITE-DOWN what really matters to you at this point in your life and what you want to achieve in the next one month, 6 months, I year and 5 years. Then take time out to think through and WRITE-DOWN what you need to do to get to each goal. If you can ever do this, you are already ahead of 95% of the world and it is just a matter of time before you arrive at the top! I dare you today to write down your goals!
You will never find a champion who is not passionate about what he/she does. Passion will propel you to dominion and power. It is a fact that you will never have significant success with anything until it becomes an obsession with you. Passion is a pre-requisite for possession. You will never be a champion if you do not have passion. The 10 spies and their whole generation in Numbers 13 lost out on the promised land because they allowed their observations to weaken their passion for their destiny. They saw giants and fortified strongholds and lost their passion for the promised land and god cut them down right there in the desert.
JESUS, the greatest champion who ever lived had a passion and an obsession with his mission. Every opportunity he had, he declared without apologies that “The son of man has come to seek and to save that which was lost.” He would not be deterred in his passion for his assignment to return us to the kingdom dominion we lost. He concentrated on his passion about the kingdom of God returning back to earth to the exclusion of everything else. Jesus focused on doing the passion of his heart. He insisted on preaching the kingdom to the neighboring cities because that was why he was sent. He healed the sick on the sabbath. He mixed with the sinners, the poor and the discouraged regardless of tradition. Jesus’ obsession with his dream took him to the cross even when the people he came for did not acknowledge him.
Paul the apostle was also a man obessed with his passion to preach the gospel of the kingdom of God to the gentiles. He insisted on going to Rome even when there was a clear vision of danger for him on the journey. He forgot about everything else and focused on his passion and his goal of preaching the good news of the kingdom. Lynching did not strip him of his passion. Beaten did not beat out the passion in him. Prison did not cure him of his passion. Shipwreck did not wreck his resolve. No wonder he became the champion apostle we all celebrate today!
Look around you. Celebrated champions are ALL celebrated because they had a passion for something and it became an obsession with them. Bill Gates was passionate about the computer and its operating system and the obsession with that quest made him the richest man in the world. Tiger Woods was passionate and obsessed about only one thing: golf. He is said to get up as early as 6am and get on the golf course to practice and play golf for 3 hours every day, day in, day out, even though he is worth hundreds of millions of dollars. Michael Jordan won’t eat his breakfast until he had practiced at least 100 shots and he wont go to bed until he had practiced another 100 shots. Donald Trump is passionate and obsessed with the thrill of the deal particularly real estate.
Examine your passion about what you are doing today. How do you feel about going to the present work you do? Do you get lost in time while doing your assignment or are you constantly looking at the clock waiting to clock out? How do you feel about your present pursuits? Make no mistake, you cannot become a champion just marking time and waiting for lightning to strike. There are no championship rings for those without passion or great pursuit. Don’t waste your life on mindless dispassionate pursuits.
Ask yourself, what is it that you are willing to leave everything else for? What are you willing to risk it all on? If you can have a choice of anything to do in the world today, and money is not an issue, what will that be? Find what makes you boil with excitement and pursue it aggressively and you will become a champion. Passion is a power secret of champions.
Stay tuned... I am waiting for you at the top!
